{"id":12825,"date":"2023-09-25T08:25:23","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T08:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=12825"},"modified":"2023-09-25T08:25:23","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T08:25:23","slug":"update-on-25-million-sewage-upgrade-project-in-stroud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=12825","title":{"rendered":"Update on \u00a325 Million Sewage Upgrade Project in Stroud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stwater.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEVERN Trent<\/a>\u2019s \u00a325 million scheme to decrease sewer flooding in Stroud is getting closer to completion after its TBMs (tunnel boring machines) have completed laying 1.7 km of brand-new sewer pipes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The water and waste firm intends to transform the network in the town by delivering those living in Stroud with a reliable sewer network, expecting to improve river health and build more storage to protect homes and businesses from blockages and flooding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Four TBMs have been employed to excavate underground for laying the new pipes to minimize disruption above ground for residents. All of them were named by the local community or by those working on the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now the project manager, Chloe Dobbs, has provided the latest update ahead of its scheduled completion of Autumn 2024: \u201cIt\u2019s been great to be involved in a project such as this and it\u2019s great to see how well it\u2019s coming along.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She added: &#8220;We\u2019re making good progress \u2013 we\u2019ve completed the laying of the trunk sewer with all of the tunnel boring machines which has been a big piece of work and we\u2019ve finished laying the rings of the new CSO storm tank shaft which is 26m in depth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dobbs continued: \u201cUsing the tunnel boring machines has been so beneficial \u2013 they have been cutting through the earth, laying new pipes in their path without residents being aware of the amazing work going on beneath their feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve worked closely with businesses to mitigate any disruption and we\u2019ve held customer drop-in sessions where it\u2019s been great to meet customers with a keen interest in the project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new CSO site, just off the Ebley bypass, houses a storm tank, which is said to increase the capacity of the local network extensively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It will have wise controls that can hold water back during intense weather events before returning it to Severn Trent\u2019s treatment works once rainfall has subsided and the capacity to treat it is available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEVERN Trent\u2019s \u00a325 million scheme to decrease sewer flooding in Stroud is getting closer to completion after its TBMs (tunnel boring machines) have completed laying 1.7 km of brand-new sewer pipes.
