A JV of two Indian construction firms has won a deal to construct a station for a high-speed rail line in Mumbai.<\/p>\n
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures<\/a> and Hindustan Construction Company (HCC)<\/a> will construct the station for the National High-Speed Rail Corporation in a contract valued at US$446.5 million (Rs 3,681 crore).<\/p>\n The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) bullet train station will function as a terminal for the 508.2 km-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed line.<\/p>\n The station will have six 414m-long platforms, each adequate to house a 16-coach bullet train.<\/p>\n In addition, it will link with the metro and road transport and will be the only underground station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor.<\/p>\n The JV will construct the three-floor station nearly 24m beneath the ground, over a total floor area of 2 million sq m.<\/p>\n The station will include waiting areas, a business-class lounge, a nursery, restrooms, smoking rooms, and information kiosks.<\/p>\n Moreover, the contract contains a retrieval shaft construction on the eastern end for removing the TBM (tunnel boring machine), all MEP works, architectural finishing, and testing and commissioning.<\/p>\n HCC, the Infrastructure specialist, argues to have constructed 26% of India\u2019s hydropower generation and 60% of its nuclear generation capacities, plus more than 4,036 lane km of roads and 395 Bridges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A JV of two Indian construction firms has won a deal to construct a station for a high-speed rail line in Mumbai.
