In order to construct Lot 1 of Toulouse\u2019s third metro line, the \u20ac233m (US$247m) contract was awarded to a consortium of Eiffage<\/a> and NGE<\/a>, while it is the second Toulouse contract for the two companies.<\/p>\n

Including the civil engineering work for the tunnels, stations, and structures on the new Line C of the Toulouse Metro system between the Colomiers ancillary structure, located 100m from Colomiers Gare station, as well as the Laporte ancillary structure, Lot 1, has been granted by Toulouse\u2019s metropolitan transport authority, Tiss\u00e9o.<\/p>\n

The responsibility of carrying out planning and building a 3.85km tunnel, three stations, and four inter-station ancillary structures, is due to be up to the consortium, which is represented by Eiffage through its Eiffage G\u00e9nie Civil subsidiary. Additionally, building of three galleries connecting shafts to the tunnel, are the contents of this contract.<\/p>\n

Also the Lot 2 contract, which’s value is almost \u20ac590m (US$626m), was handed to Eiffage and NGE in the previous month to advance construction of Line C that is located between the Laporte ancillary structure and Raynal station and extends Lot 1.<\/p>\n

Considering that the project aims to use less steel in 95% of the project, for both contracts the consortium is slated to employ various advanced techniques, such as a next-generation tunnel boring machine and fiber-reinforced concrete segments. The consortium will manufacture the concrete segments at a new plant in the Toulouse region. Carasol, a soil analysis technique developed by Eiffage, will also be used.<\/p>\n

While the determined date for launching this project is 2028, it will get underway this spring.<\/p>\n
