{"id":10146,"date":"2023-01-28T08:06:11","date_gmt":"2023-01-28T08:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=10146"},"modified":"2023-01-28T08:06:11","modified_gmt":"2023-01-28T08:06:11","slug":"beginning-the-geotech-work-for-cargo-sous-terrain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tunnelingworld.com\/?p=10146","title":{"rendered":"Beginning the Geotech Work for CST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p- style=\"text-align: justify;\">The intended Geotechnical investigations for Switzerland\u2019s proposed underground freight tunnel network, Cargo Sous Terrain (CST), have been commenced.<\/p>\n<p- style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the location of test drilling is due to be at depths of up to 100m, the findings will be used in the planning for the first section from H\u00e4rkingen to Zurich.<\/p>\n<p- style=\"text-align: justify;\">Providing a tunnel network for automated, driverless electric freight vehicles, CST is slated to be extended from Geneva to St Gallen. The planned date for inauguration of the first 70km section, that links the H\u00e4rkingen-Niederbipp hub with Zurich, is 2031 and by 2045 Cargo Sous Terrain is going to create a 500km nationwide network.<\/p>\n<p- style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to creating the legal basis for the privately financed freight transport project, application of the law on underground goods transport from August 1, 2022 was approved by Switzerland\u2019s Federal Council in June last year.
