TBM Launched for Tel Aviv Green Line

Following launch of the first TBM, construction of the Tel Aviv’s light rail Green Line G3-2 section has been commenced.

Including a 5.7km double-lane tunnel, two access sections, one underground station as well as three underground structures, the tunneling process of this project is up to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC).

According to Lou Yusai, CSCEC Israel general manager, the project is due to benefit three EPBMs, which are 7.54m diameter and 115m long.

As the largest government infrastructure project since the founding of Israel, the Tel Aviv Light Rail Project involves construction of the Red, Green and Purple lines.

The Green Line with 39km length will link the center of Tel Aviv with the northern and southern regions, while it is going to run from Rishon LeZion, a city south of Tel Aviv, northwards through Holon, then through central Tel Aviv before dividing into two northbound branches. The scheduled date for inauguration of this project is 2027.
